Project events
We had our first Project Advisory Group meeting in March 2015, the second in December 2015 and the third in September 2016.
Our first consultation event took place on 26 April 2016 (notes and reflections from the event are available here), while our second and final consultation event on 8 December 2016.
Between 14 and 27 February 2017 we will be hosting an exhibition of the photographs that research participants produced for the study. It is titled ‘Home is where the heart is: LGBT Migrants in Scotland’ and speaks to the topic of home and belonging. It is also part of the 2017 LGBT History Month (see here). The exhibition will take place at Hillhead Library, 348 Byres Road, Glasgow G12 8AP. It is free and will be open to the general public during the library’s normal opening hours (Mon-Thu: 10am-8pm; Fri and Sat: 10am-5pm; Sun: 12noon-5pm). For more information see also here.
We are having a formal opening of the exhibition on 16 February 2017, 6-7:30pm at Hillhead Library, 348 Byres Road, Glasgow G12 8AP. It is a free, but ticketed event; please register. For more information see also here.

We would like to draw your attention to an event titled ‘Coming In’: Stories of LGBTQI people moving to a new place or country taking place in Edinburgh on 2 Feb 2017, 6-8pm. This event is not linked to the Intimate Migrations project, but is organised by LGBT organisations that have supported us. It’s an opportunity to hear other people’s ‘coming in’ stories and, for those who are interested, to tell their own story and have it recorded! This is a free, but ticketed event. Please register here.
